We had an amazing week in Iceland, with Puffin Travel and Oli playing a major role. Prior to our trip, we aligned on an itinerary with Oli, and he more than delivered. Besides the major highlights, he took us to many fascinating places that we were not aware of prior to the trip. He was friendly, accommodating, and took great care of us; not worrying about driving, parking, driving directions, etc. made it an stress-free week for us. We hoped to see the northern lights during our day, but the evening weather did not cooperate. However, on our last night in Iceland, Oli reached out and said the evening sky should be clear and it could be a great night to see the northern lights. He picked us up, drove 20 minutes outside the main city area, and found a great spot to watch the sky and northern lights. It was a great experience to see them, and I appreciated Oli’s efforts. We had the most amazing time in Iceland and it was all because of Oli from Puffin taxi.he customized a wonderful itinerary and was so informative and really fun! Oli’s smiling face was there when we deplaned, and we hired him the next day for a lovely tour, and he took us back to the airport after our trip. Olafur provided truly exceptional service and was one of the people who made our Iceland trip so memorable.

He picked us up at KEF after a delayed flight and long customs line, patiently stayed in contact, shared his live location, and made our arrival incredibly easy. We had rented a camper but arrived with almost no itinerary, so we asked Ólafur what he would do if he were driving around Iceland himself. He not only gave us recommendations…he actually sent us Google Maps locations in the order he suggested we drive them. We followed his route and recommendations throughout our trip, and they were fantastic. Some of our favourite experiences in Iceland came directly from his advice.

At the end of our trip, I messaged him around 11 PM asking for a 7 AM pickup to KEF airport the next morning. He accommodated us at the last minute. Then, while going through airport security, I discovered I had accidentally kept the keys to our camper instead of leaving them at the rental company in Reykjavík!!! 😱 Oli had already returned to the taxi queue, but he left the lineup, came back to the terminal to get the keys from me, and drove them all the way back to the rental company. 🙏

That says everything about the kind of person he is. Oli is friendly, reliable, knowledgeable and extraordinarily generous. I recommend him without hesitation…and if you’re visiting Iceland, ask him where you should go. His advice helped make our trip incredible.

Oli was a fantastic tour guide, he deserves 5 stars easily. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and friendly he was very accommodating. He even took great pictures of us at a waterfall. Local, knowledgeable and flexible - leads to all around enjoyable experience!
We used Oli for taxi services during our stay in Iceland, but also for guided tours on a private basis. Both services provided were very professional - and also very competitively priced compared to some of the expensive competition. My review is less about the taxi service, the tour and/or the sites you see - as they are to be expected - it is more about what made Puffin Taxi stand out for us. We did the Golden Circle Tour and we felt we go an experience that was unique and different to any group or overly itinerated trips, as we got to dictate to a large extent what we would like to do and when, how long we would like to stay etc - all with helpful and knowledgeable suggestions to guide that decision making based on our likes and tastes. The car was exemplary, clean and well driven by Oli - even if the rough conditions of Icelandic Winter, we felt safe, comfortable and warm! The routes taken were benefitted by years of local knowledge, little stops here and there off the beaten track for incredible views, or tidbits of information. I would 100% recommend to use Puffin Taxi for either taxi services or tours - and extend that recommendation to a "must do" if you're staying at Hvammsvík Hot Springs... It's a fairly remote area, so having the flexibility Puffin provide gives you freedom to enjoy exploring on your own schedule. Puffin Taxi are so competitively priced, knowledgeable for that area (probably for all areas!) - even down to the little details like being able to pick you up and drop you off directly outside your front door as opposed to the car park which most other operators utilize.

Great start to our holiday
We had scheduled an airport pick up with a stop at the Blue Lagoon before heading to our hotel. First, Oli was always responsive to my emails in a very timely manner, communication was always excellent.When we arrived in Reykjavik, passed thru customs, Oli was waiting for us. Since we ended up being early for our Blue Lagoon time, Oli took the time to give us a brief tour around the local area. He is so much more than a transportation service, such a knowledgeable guide. Great Guide from Reykjavik/ Puffin Taxi
Oli Omarsson is a fantastic guide. We used his service both before and after our 7 day cruise. He picked us up at the airport and drove us around Reykjavik to an organ concert at the cathedral and "the best fish and chips in Iceland" for lunch before dropping us at our apartment. He also took us to the ship the next day which was great because there were 5 of us with luggage. Not always easy to find a big enough car. Oli has a new, electric Mercedes SUV. Very nice.Our big outing was our last day in Iceland. We did the Golden Circle on our own with Oli instead of the bus tour off the ship. It was wonderful. All the main attractions and a few very singular ones. I think our favorite was lunch at a restaurant where they cook the food in the hot spring mud next door. Tomato soup and the absolute best brown bread I've ever had. We also saw a newish "museum" which is a cave last occupied by farmers in the early 1900's, horses and the tomato farm. Best day ever.
Wow! We spent a day with Oli and what an excellent unforgettable day it was. We went to Geysir, Gulfoss, the tomato farm for lunch, we visited Icelandic horses a volcanic crater and much more. He is a very knowledgeable guide and a really nice guy. Our advice would be to skip the coach tours and book a day with Oli for a real glimpse of Iceland.

Had them pick me up from the airport, excellent service!
